My totem is a constrictor, a snake: An animal that I can most identify with in the most basic way, whose strengths I can hope to emulate. Oh, Hawks, Eagles, or Falcons are loftier. The Cape Buffalo has no fear. The Dolphin is perhaps the most intelligent and graceful of sea animals. The Cheetah the faster animal on earth. But a Snake, a Constrictor, I can hold in my hands, I can feel its strength, I can feel its fear of being captured, and then I can feel it as it calms down in my hands, I can feel it, how it thinks, how it smells, how it feels vibrations, how it hunts with stealth, how it lives AND then I can let it go and let it be on its way, it content to continue its hunt, and I content that I could know such an animal.
